Required License/Registration/Certification
Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing, and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily, 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; possible exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift
Shift start times: 7 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m. Must work three 12‑hour shifts per week, including weekends and holidays. No swing shifts or set schedules.

Job Summary
Provides total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care: assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, development, and evaluation of nursing care plans; delivers direct patient care; ensures patient satisfaction; trains and delegates duties for Nursing Care Technicians; adheres to University policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations; collaborates with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes; applies the nursing process within a comprehensive patient‑centered plan of care.

Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring Model.

Excellent direct patient care and critical thinking skills.

Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.

Professional and respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.

Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.

Motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and families.

Team‑oriented, open and honest communication with staff and physicians.

Technical proficiency and proven ability to work independently.

Supervisory Responsibilities
None.

Preferred Education / Experience
BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience.
