Research Technician I, Department of Medicine
The Division of Hematology/Oncology within the Department of Medicine is seeking a motivated Research Technician I to join Dr. Edward Gelmann's laboratory. This role supports research exploring how pharmacologic kinase inhibitors influence tumor suppressor proteins in cultured cells and mouse tissues.
Responsibilities
Assist the PI and laboratory personnel with experiments involving mouse tissues under established protocols.
Perform routine cell culture experiments to analyze the effects of kinase inhibitors on tumor suppressor proteins.
Prepare and maintain reagents, and manage reagent dilution.
Maintain inventory, order supplies from vendors, and ensure adequate stock.
Set up and maintain routine equipment operation, calibration, and cleanliness.
Prepare for and respond to annual Laboratory Safety Audits.
Execute additional lab-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in sterile technique.
Experience with protein analysis by immunoblotting.
Ability to prepare laboratory reagents.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning gained through experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Year of prior laboratory experience, especially in cell culture or molecular biology techniques.
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
