IT Event Infrastructure & Technology Lead
Contract-to-Hire
Location: NYC - hybrid
The IT Event Technology Support Technician will assist with the planning, preparation, deployment, and support of event technology infrastructure for NYRR’s weekly races and marquee events. This role supports equipment staging, vendor coordination, connectivity validation, and on-site technical operations. The technician will assist with gathering business requirements, supporting vendor deployments, validating internet and cellular services, and ensuring technology is delivered and functioning as expected. This role requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to respond quickly in fast-paced event environments.
Job Requirements
2–4 years of experience in IT support, event technology, AV support, or a related technical field preferred.
Foundational understanding of internet connectivity, Wi‑Fi, and general networking concepts.
Experience using basic connectivity testing tools such as wireless analyzers, cable testers, speed tests, and ping; basic understanding of DNS preferred.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Effective communication skills when working with internal teams and external vendors.
Hands‑on technical aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
Comfortable working in dynamic, fast‑paced environments.
Education & Certifications
CTS certification and/or CompTIA A+ certification preferred (nice to have).
Skills & Attributes
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of the New York City running community and run clubs.
Familiarity with communities across all five boroughs of NYC.
Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (required in all job descriptions).
Ability to speak another language strongly preferred.
Foundational project management skillset.
Ability to adapt to changing operational requirements in fast‑paced event environments.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during live event setup and execution.

Support event schedules that include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Travel to event sites and office locations throughout New York City to support event technology deployments and operational needs.
Strong organizational and task management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
High sense of ownership and accountability for assigned deployments.
Proactive problem‑solving mindset with the ability to anticipate risks.
Process‑driven approach with attention to standardized deployment procedures.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent event workstreams.
