
Label Press Operator

The Label Press Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and quality oversight of digital and flexographic label presses. This hands‑on role is critical to delivering consistent, high‑quality label output for CPG, beauty, spirits, and corporate gifting clients. The ideal candidate brings press‑floor proficiency on the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 digital press, flexographic printing equipment, and GM Mini inline finishing systems, with a sharp eye for color fidelity and a commitment to zero‑defect production.
Location: Carrollton, TX | Type: Full‑time / Non‑Exempt | Reports To: Production Manager
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and maintain the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 digital label press, including color profiling, substrate loading, and ICC profile selection
Operate flexographic printing equipment; perform plate mounting, anilox selection, ink mixing, registration, and impression adjustments
Configure and run the GM Mini inline finishing system for die‑cutting, lamination, varnish, and slitting operations
Perform makeready and job changeovers efficiently, minimizing material waste and downtime
Conduct press checks against approved proofs or brand color standards (Pantone, CMYK targets) before releasing to full production
Maintain consistent print quality throughout the run using densitometers, spectrophotometers, or visual inspection as required
Complete floor tickets, job logs, and waste/spoilage records accurately in the production management system
Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) including cleaning heads, replacing doctor blades, calibrating tension, and escalating mechanical issues
Coordinate with prepress/design on file readiness, trapping, bleeds, and substrate compatibility
Follow all safety protocols for inks, solvents, and pressroom hazards, including proper PPE usage and waste disposal
Support production scheduling by accurately reporting run speeds, estimated completion times, and material consumption
Assist in training junior press operators or production assistants as directed
Required Equipment Knowledge
Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 digital label press
Flexographic press operation (plate mounting, anilox rolls, doctor blades, impression settings)
GM Mini inline finishing system (die‑cutting, lamination, varnish, slitting)
Web tension systems and slitters
Densitometers and/or spectrophotometers for color measurement
Qualifications
2+ years of label press operation experience (digital or flexographic)
Hands‑on experience with the Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 400 or comparable digital label press strongly preferred
Demonstrated flexographic print experience: job setup through full production run
Experience with GM Mini or similar inline finishing equipment
Ability to read and interpret job tickets, die lines, and brand color specifications
Basic color theory and densitometry knowledge
Forklift certification a plus
High school diploma or GED required; trade/print certification a plus
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Skills & Attributes
Strong mechanical aptitude — comfortable troubleshooting press issues in real time
Detail‑oriented with a quality‑first mindset; able to spot color variation and registration drift
Ability to read and follow written work instructions, floor tickets, and SOPs
Physical stamina: standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, handling roll stock
Collaborative team player in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven pressroom environment
Basic computer literacy for RIP software, job tracking, and email communication
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Type: Hourly, Non‑Exempt
Pay Range: $20 – $28 per hour (depending on experience)
Shift: 1st or 2nd shift available
Overtime: Eligible per FLSA
