Maintenance Technician III - Kuparuk Project Services - Mechanical Group
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician III performs duties required in support of Maintenance Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform piping spool/valve installation and removal, rigging, blinding and minor pipe fitting.
Lead crew by example in implementing safety policy and procedures.
Promote safe work practices and adhere to company and client safety policies and procedures for work performed, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation of task.
Demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures and accept accountability for safe work practices.
Ability to follow all policies and procedures and work in a safe and productive manner.
Routinely perform safety and productivity observations, shop, field, and vehicle inspections.
Demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.
Perform manual labor including operating hand tools and power tools.
Perform manual labor activity such as cleanup, hauling, stacking materials, shoveling, handling steel material and valves.
Knowledge of structural and mechanical piping maintenance operations.
Interpret Isometric and P&ID drawings.
Know various skilled tasks as required for a piping maintenance operation.
Working knowledge of rigging and piping bolt‑up techniques.
Knowledge of and ability in blinding and pipefitting techniques.
Knowledge of piping, valve installation, and specifications.
Ability to participate in the respiratory protection program.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to perform piping spool installation and removal.
Ability to perform maintenance asbestos gasket removal.
Work with minimal supervision and be capable of performing assigned tasks with limited general technical guidance.
Tank and vessel coating experience preferred.
Ability to wear a full-face respirator or supplied air while performing essential duties.
Some scaffold knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of steam, purging and venting, hydro test, and energy isolation procedures.
Comply with company and customer policies and procedures.
Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
Perform other duties as assigned to this position.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Valid U.S. issued Driver’s License required.
North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required.
Ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation required.
At least four (4) years of experience in mechanical piping, rigging, and general piping as a Maintenance Technician specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
An Asbestos 40‑hr certification preferred.
Tank and vessel coating experience preferred.
Some scaffold knowledge preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE
While working on the North Slope of Alaska, lodging and food will be provided. All camps provide warm meals and options for quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms range from single status to shared rooms with a roommate on the opposite shift. Wi‑Fi and Internet are free within the camp. Services include housekeeping, self‑serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, and television/theater room. Specific accommodations and policies review with on‑site orientation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands and work environment requirements include a post‑offer, pre‑hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), compliance with the ASRC Energy Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, a pre‑employment drug test (urinalysis and hair testing), Fit‑for‑Duty Exam, background check, and obtaining an access badge. Candidates must pass these requirements. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable employees with disabilities to perform duties. The availability of this position is contingent upon the company’s operational needs after training is completed.
