Job Summary
The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for contributing to fundraising activities related to the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC, the Lucille & Jay Chazanoff Sunrise Day Camp, and Hillel of Staten Island. The Fundraising/Special Events Department produces multiple major events per year. This position is responsible for working on these events as well as other fundraising campaigns.

About You
The Special Events Coordinator should be familiar with all JCC programs, embrace the agency’s mission, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals and resolve problems. The chosen candidate will focus on donor needs and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

What You’ll Do

Program Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning and execution for all JCC fundraising events, including galas, sports tournaments, and SunriseWALKS

Coordinating event details, including catering, venue, invitation lists, décor, and programming

Soliciting donors and sponsors for funding and in‑kind donations

Organizing special events and initiatives for Sunrise Day Camp-Staten Island with public and private schools, independent businesses and organizations, and nonprofits

Managing all third‑party initiatives and events, including providing support to volunteers on point of sale campaigns, fundraising events, etc.

Overseeing team and walker recruitment for SunriseWALKS

Leading Sunrise tours during the summer for new and returning donors

Administrative Responsibilities:

Working with Marketing Department on print and digital marketing for events

Creating fundraising‑related digital marketing (email blasts, graphics, etc.)

Monitoring and evaluating all event activities to ensure that fundraising goals are being achieved

Collaborating directly with the accounting department to ensure all donations, pledges, and fees for special events and programming are collected and reconciled

Assisting with administrative tasks including scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials, and managing communication with committee members

Helping Fundraising Department with office support

All administrative tasks as assigned

Relevant Scope Measures:

Staffing Fundraising Committee meetings appropriate to the various special events

Attending JCC events, third party events, and relevant meetings after regular work hours and weekends

Our Requirements

Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers

Self‑starter, goal driven, positive attitude

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

Knowledge of Jewish history and culture a plus

Preferred Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred

One+ year of related experience in nonprofit fundraising preferred

Must have a valid NY State Driver’s License and access to a car

Salary

Full-time/40 Hours with occasional nights and weekends, scheduled in advance

$50,000-55,000 (commensurate with experience)

This is an in‑person position
