Job Description
Coventry Public Schools is seeking to hire Substitute ParaProfessional Teacher Assistants for long term & short term assignments. They provide high quality, standards‑based education for all students in an environment based upon respect, trust, and ethical and responsible behavior. They also create an atmosphere that fosters and values individual talents. All members of the school community are full participants in the evaluation of their performance with the single aim of improvement.
Starting Date:
Immediately
Qualifications
Be of good character.
Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
Completion of a Teacher Assistant Pre‑Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE). Exceptions:
Those hired before January 1, 1999
Those with certification as a TA in another state
Those with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and who have completed coursework or other training consistent with the teacher assistant program standards (district decision)
Meet one of the following requirements:
Successfully pass the ParaPro Assessment.
Complete at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education.
Obtain an associate’s or higher degree.
Pay Rate
$17.00/hr

Responsibilities
Report to work punctually.
Maintain personal and workplace cleanliness and orderliness.
Treat all students, parents, visitors and coworkers in a courteous, professional manner.
Perform assigned responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
Exhibit responsibility.
Maintain confidentiality.
At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
Associate degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
