At Delta, our Digital Experience Team is the driving force behind shaping cohesive and impactful digital journeys. We are committed to human‑centered design to address the dynamic needs of today’s users while advancing future possibilities. As a Graduate Design & Research Intern, you will contribute to the definition, design, and evaluation of digital experiences across delta.com, the Fly Delta app, and internal digital tools.

During your internship, you will work closely with UX/UI designers, content designers, UX researchers, product managers, and engineers to design, test, and refine customer‑facing and employee‑facing solutions. You will participate in user research, contribute to design explorations, and help bring concepts to life through prototyping and documentation. This internship offers hands‑on experience within a dynamic digital product environment, collaborating across disciplines and influencing outcomes through insight‑driven design.

We are looking for passionate, curious, and forward‑thinking individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to meaningful digital experiences. Ideal candidates are currently pursuing a graduate degree related to user experience design, visual design, interaction design, conversational design, content design, service design, or user research. KEY SKILLS

Advanced coursework in areas such as visual design, interaction and systems design, information architecture and experience mapping, user flows, accessibility and inclusive design, user research, design systems and scalable patterns, UX writing, prototyping, and user acceptance testing.

A willingness to explore new tools, iterate quickly, and grow through feedback will help you soar in this role.

Design & Prototyping

Design user flows, wireframes, visual mockups, and interactive prototypes.

Explore multiple design directions and articulate trade‑offs grounded in user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.

Apply design system principles thoughtfully and contribute recommendations for system evolution.

User Research & Testing

Contribute to research planning, including defining objectives, methods, and success criteria.

Observe user behaviors, identify patterns, and uncover insights.

Support testing and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

Collaboration & Delivery

Partner with UX/UI designers, UX researchers, product managers, content designers, user acceptance testers, and engineers.

Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback.

Produce clear documentation that supports design, development, and decision‑making.

Communication & Storytelling

Communicate design and research outcomes through structured storytelling tailored to diverse audiences.

Help develop clear, effective artifacts that communicate direction, intent, and status.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

Currently pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in UX/UX Design, Product Design, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience translating research or design work into real‑world applications (academic, professional, or applied research projects).

Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt quickly.

Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team settings.

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling personal data appropriately.

Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate on multi‑disciplinary teams. Embraces diverse people, perspectives, and styles.

Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

Experience with AI or LLM powered tools in a design or research workflow.

Familiarity with Figma or similar design/prototyping tools.

Familiarity with testing tools such as UserZoom, UserTesting, or Qualtrics.

Ability to support multiple projects with cross‑functional partners.

Strong presentation development skills and ability to communicate design rationale.

Interest in learning leadership and problem‑solving techniques.

Curiosity, creativity, and a passion for human‑centered digital experience.
