Job Summary
This is a part‑time adjunct faculty position supporting the Computer Engineering Technology program in the Department of Engineering Technology. The adjunct instructor is responsible for coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction as well as related activities. Teaching duties may occur during the day, evening, or weekend on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus. The position includes instruction, academic advising, committee service, and participation in professional activities.
Job Duties
Prepare and deliver instruction on topics in Computer Engineering Technology.
Administer, evaluate, grade, and communicate student work fairly and consistently, including papers, assignments, tests, and laboratory work.
Develop curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, assignments, and handouts.
Hold office hours for student advisement and assist with course‑related problems outside the classroom.
Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and FERPA‑compliant records.
Attend faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development activities, and other meetings called by the President, Dean, or Department Chair.
Stay current with developments in the field through literature review, colleague interaction, and conference participation.
Participate in departmental and college committees and provide outreach service to the community.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head or Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering, or a related engineering technology field.
Associate’s degree with demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or a master’s degree in another discipline with at least 18 hours of graduate work in the teaching discipline.
Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience in higher education, or one (1) year of teaching experience with an additional three (3) years in industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student‑centered learning.
Skill in selecting and using appropriate training and instructional methods for new learning or teaching situations.
Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
Strong written communication skills for clear information presentation.
Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at any of the four locations.
