Job Description
Position Summary:
Instructs students in one or more content areas such as Reading, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. May be designated according to subject matter/content specialty. Utilizes current strategies and theories to plan and implement lessons. This position reports to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities
Instructs students using various teaching methods such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration, and other materials to supplement presentations relative to specific content fields.
Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students’ progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
Maintains discipline in the classroom and supervises behavior outside the classroom (halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, restroom duty).
Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review student progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
All other duties as assigned and required to perform the above services.
Key Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
Makes recommendations and/or decisions that usually affect the entire school.
Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T‑4 to T‑7 as required by the GaPSC.
Normal classroom/school setting.
Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to 7½ hours per day. Light duty – mostly sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.
