Job Description
Sample Management Specialist I is responsible for the receipt, inventory, chain of custody, storage, transfer, and disposition of study samples, reference materials, matrices, critical reagents, and other items that require defined storage conditions and tracking. The role ensures uncompromised integrity of materials, operates and troubleshoots storage appliances and environmental monitoring systems, and supports the overall sample management workflow at the starting level, with opportunities to work independently as competency is demonstrated.
Job Responsibilities
Provide operational support for the management of reference materials and matrices.
Support the receipt, verification, inventory control, distribution, sending and disposition of study samples.
Prepare samples for analysis.
Maintain an inventory of supplies used to manage samples and order supplies when needed.
Assist with the maintenance, operation and support of sample storage equipment and the environmental monitoring system.
Archive documents associated with the management of study samples.
Qualifications
High‑school diploma.
Entry‑level position; no prior experience required.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, both written and spoken.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to use sample‑tracking software.
Experience working in a regulated environment is considered an asset.
