Medical Assistant – Adolescent Mental Health Program

Position Overview
The Medical Assistant plays an essential role in supporting the health, safety, and day-to-day medical needs of adolescents within our residential treatment program. This position works closely with nurses, therapists, psychiatrists, educators, and residential staff to help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.

What You’ll Do
Medical Support & Client Care

Take and record vital signs, complete drug screenings, and document medical updates

Administer medications according to physician orders and facility protocols

Monitor clients for behavioral, emotional, or medical changes and communicate concerns to treatment staff

Provide one-on-one supervision for clients with elevated safety, behavioral, or medical concerns

Support daily client routines while maintaining professionalism and therapeutic boundaries

Assist with coordinating medical appointments and outside provider communication

Respond appropriately during medical or behavioral emergencies following company protocols

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate medical records, shift logs, incident reports, and documentation

Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and facility standards

Follow all medication administration, infection control, and safety procedures

Support compliance with licensing, accreditation, and program requirements

Maintain organization and cleanliness within medical and client care areas

Team Collaboration & Therapeutic Environment

Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, psychiatrists, behavioral staff, and leadership

Participate in shift handoffs, trainings, meetings, and ongoing professional development

Contribute positively to the overall therapeutic and residential environment

Help maintain a structured, safe, supportive, and trauma-informed setting for adolescents

Maintain flexibility and composure in fast-paced or high-stress situations

What You Bring
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Certified Medical Assistant from an accredited program

Current CPR and First Aid certification

Ability to pass background and fingerprint clearance

Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced residential treatment environment

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum one year of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, residential treatment, or related settings

Experience working with adolescents ages 12–17

Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques

Experience supporting clients with mental health, eating disorders, substance use, or dual diagnosis needs

Experience with medication administration and behavioral health documentation
