Integrated Behavioral Health Therapist
Summary
The Integrated Behavioral Health Therapist independently provides assessments, treatment/care planning, and psychosocial therapy within a primary care clinic setting for a diverse population of preventative, acute care, and chronic disease management patients. The role involves using a variety of theoretical treatment models, delivering therapy, collaborating with a primary care team, documenting all interactions, and staying current on community resources to facilitate client linkage and advocacy.
Responsibilities
Implement mental health assessments and utilize the DSM‑5 to provide accurate diagnosis and differential diagnoses.
Provide person‑centered treatment planning based on the assessments.
Employ various therapeutic interventions designed to address identified concerns and support needs.
Document individual and group sessions and utilize the client treatment plan to increase engagement and ownership.
Maintain communication with primary care clinic providers and external support resources.
Collaborate and maintain positive relationships with all primary care team members and external resources to facilitate quality patient care.
Meet facility productivity and documentation standards.
Participate in quarterly care team meetings and other meetings as requested by clinic leadership.
Maintain reliable attendance.
Contribute to the organization’s success by meeting competency expectations and core values (respect, integrity, stewardship, excellence, collaboration, kindness), continuously learning, and performing other duties as needed or assigned.
Practice appropriate fire, safety, and disaster procedures as set forth by SMC.
Participate in all mandatory safety, security, and infection control programs, as well as those required by the department.
Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times and report violations to the Privacy Officer.
Understand and comply with the requirements of the Saunders Medical Center’s Compliance Program, including the Code of Conduct and all related policies.
Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by policy, licensure, and supervisor.
Demonstrate a high‑level commitment, motivation, and energy; team orientation; professionalism; trust; personal honesty and integrity; and the ability to work independently.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field. Two years of experience providing direct therapy is preferred.
Licensing and Certifications
Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (PCMSW, CMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMPH, LMHP, LIMHP). Provisional status may be considered.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions and possess effective communication skills to interact tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate at the level necessary to perform the essential duties of this position.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and interpret instructions provided in oral, written, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
Must sit frequently, spend long periods examining documents, stand, reach with arms and hands, occasionally lift, push or pull specified weight, and occasionally walk, climb, or balance. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
Work Environment
Typical office setting with periods of time spent in patient care areas. Attendance is essential and expected.
