Overview
The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse delivers high-quality, patient-centered care to adult patients across a broad spectrum of medical and post-surgical needs. This role is critical in assessing patient conditions, implementing care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to drive optimal outcomes. You will be at the heart of patient care—responding swiftly to changes in condition, advocating for your patients, and ensuring a safe, compassionate healing environment from admission through discharge.
What you will be doing
Provide direct, individualized nursing care to medical-surgical patients
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and initiate the Plan of Care upon admission
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols
Monitor, interpret, and document patient vital signs and responses to treatment
Identify and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic medical records
Float to other units as needed based on skill set and patient care requirements
Uphold patient confidentiality and advocate for patient rights at all times
What you must have
Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
BSN or MSN preferred
Licensure & Certifications
Active RN license in the State of Oregon
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
Evidence of ongoing continuing education relevant to practice area
Preferred Credentials
Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN)
Previous Medical-Surgical nursing experience
