Responsibilities

Assist with clinical trials and neuroscientific studies funded by the NIH focusing on mindfulness‑based interventions for chronic pain and addiction.

Recruit participants, conduct research clinical assessments, and administer and score clinical rating scales.

Support senior research staff with psychophysiological assessments such as EEG and fMRI, physical measurements, and study protocols.

Prepare and process data for computerized entry, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Work collaboratively with the research team to retain study participants.

Perform general research tasks, including library and computer research and general administrative and office duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience, or two years of college including curriculum in the natural, physical, or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated understanding of psychology, substance use disorders, and DSM‑V criteria for psychiatric disorders.

Experience working in psychiatric research environments.

Experience with scoring of clinical rating scales and psychophysiological tests, or willingness to learn.

Proficiency using PCs, including relational databases, word processing, spreadsheet, and statistical analysis programs.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi‑cultural environment.

Understanding of mindfulness‑based interventions as treatments for chronic pain and addiction.

Ability to sustain careful attention to detail for long periods of time.

Skill in organizing, analyzing, managing time, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines for multiple tasks.

Willingness to travel to addiction treatment clinics to recruit, consent, and assess participants.

Proven ability to enter data into relational databases accurately and precisely.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology, cognitive science, social work, neuroscience, or a related discipline.

Ability to design and maintain logs, develop reports, and create tables.

Experience with physiological data processing (e.g., autonomic, EEG).

Special Conditions

Employment subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Willingness to work with individuals with substance use disorders, psychiatric disorders, and chronic pain conditions.

Must successfully complete MRI safety training and annual retraining.

Reliability of transportation and willingness to travel off‑site for assessments.

Flexibility to work occasional overtime, weekends, or a flexible schedule.

Pay Transparency
Annual Full Pay Range: $54,768 - $64,582 (pro-rated if appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $26.23 - $30.93.
