Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Performs all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems (fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
Understand the mill flow and mill schematics.
Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
Follows preventative maintenance schedule.
Able to perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all mill equipment.
Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
Assists personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
Performs machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, run threaded piping, run weld piping, replace belting, replace bearings, welds and uses cutting torch.
Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with little or no direction.
Communicates well with operators and management.
Responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment; familiar with and observe all Company safety rules and regulations.
Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2 years minimum experience with pellet mills/feed mill equipment.
Forklift experience.
Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick.
Preferred Qualifications
Vocational school training preferred.
Experience involving/using CPM 7000 series.
CMMS experience.
Ability to diagnose and repair control circuits and VFD installation preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, heat and cold. May be exposed to biohazard conditions and chemicals. Requires moderate physical strength, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires use of hands, ability to climb ladders, and vision and hearing for effective communication and safety.
