Data Center Technical Operations Engineer
Location: Boardman, Oregon (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
The Data Center Technical Operations Engineer will be responsible for Data Center Engineering Operations, including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management, and metric reporting. The role involves working with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Manage on‑site shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub‑contractors, and vendors to ensure all work aligns with established practices.
Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance.
Operate and manage routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, and building monitoring systems.
Manage chillers, cooling towers, and computer room air handlers.
Assist in the design and build‑out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
Oversee asset and inventory management.
Contribute to recruiting efforts.
Deliver quality service and ensure all customer demands are met.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or a Technical Degree from a military or trade school with relevant experience.
Experience: 0‑2 years of relevant work experience and 0‑2 years of management experience.
Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a complex, fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
0‑2 years of Data Center Engineering Experience.
0‑2 years of Data Center Management Experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $21.00 and $31.00 per hour. Specific compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
