Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Analyst Intern to support our risk management and lending operations. This unpaid, hybrid internship is designed for a student or recent graduate eager to transition theoretical financial knowledge into practical credit analysis skills. The ideal candidate will assist in evaluating the creditworthiness of diverse entities, maintaining data integrity, and learning the foundations of risk mitigation. This role offers a unique opportunity to be mentored by senior financial professionals while gaining exposure to real-world commercial lending and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in analyzing bank statements and financial statements (Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flow) to identify historical trends.
Support the development and maintenance of credit risk reports, dashboards, and internal performance metrics.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Underwriting, Finance, and Management) to ensure the accuracy of data and financial files.
Document and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for credit file organization and annual review processes.
Conduct industry and market research to provide analytical insights into external factors affecting borrower risk profiles.
Qualifications
Current enrollment in or recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Strong interest in pursuing a career in credit analysis, commercial banking, or risk management.
Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (familiarity with basic formulas and data organization).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining financial findings clearly.
Ability to manage tasks effectively in a hybrid environment, maintaining productivity both remotely and in‑office. (Preferred)
Foundational understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting metrics. (Preferred)
