This hybrid role in Waitsfield, VT or Andover, MA requires a strong foundation in accounting and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
What you’ll be doing
The Accountant will oversee key accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes. You will work closely with the accounting team and cross‑functional partners to maintain GAAP compliance, improve processes, and support audits.
Perform month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliation.
Analyze financial data and investigate variances versus budget and prior periods.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Record cash entries and prepare bank reconciliations.
Develop a strong understanding of the business and forge relationships with manufacturing sites and other departments.
Own freight accrual, prepaid expense schedules, and certain AR entries.
Serve as backup AP for purchase order matching and invoice coding for specific vendors.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries.
Collaborate with Finance to compile and cross‑check departmental budgets.
Manage, account for, and reconcile grants.
Manage lease accounting setup, monthly accounting, reconciliation, and compliance.
Review and approve employee expenses in Certify.
Manage sales and use tax exemptions and credit reference requests.
Drive process improvements to streamline information flow within the department and across the company’s sites.
What we are seeking
BS in Accounting or Finance (required; preferred).
Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
Practical/Technical Knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Organized, detail‑oriented, and possessing a strong work ethic.
Passionate about identifying opportunities to streamline processes.
Proficient with Excel.
Desire to learn industry fundamentals and take on new challenges.
Ability to work independently and multi‑task in a flexible, fast‑paced environment.
Experience with JD Edwards and systems conversion is a plus.
Salary Range:
$65-72k

three days onsite in our corporate office (Tuesday through Thursday) in Waitsfield, VT or Andover, MA.
