About Us
RJE Design & Construction is a growing Long Island-based construction company with multiple divisions specializing in remodeling, kitchens, electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. We are looking for a motivated and organized Accounting Intern to support our office operations with a focus on job tracking, time management, and financial organization.
Position Overview
This internship is ideal for a student studying accounting, finance, business, or construction management who wants real-world experience inside a fast-paced construction company. The Accounting Intern will help track job costs, organize labor and material records, assist with timekeeping, and support the office in keeping projects financially organized.
Responsibilities
Assist with job cost tracking for active construction projects
Enter and organize labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs
Help track employee hours and time records by project
Review receipts, invoices, and purchase records for accuracy
Support budgeting and cost-code organization
Help maintain spreadsheets for project financial reporting
Assist with accounts payable and invoice matching
Work with office staff to improve organization and workflow
Help identify cost trends, missing paperwork, and tracking issues
Support weekly and monthly reporting for management
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related program
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Comfortable with Excel, Google Sheets, and basic office software
Good communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized
Interest in construction, project costing, or operations is a plus
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with spreadsheets and data entry
Strong time management
Analytical mindset
Willingness to learn job costing and construction office systems
