Ergon Inc., is seeking a HR Generalist and Recruiter to join our team. This position will be based in the Roanoke, VA office.

Overview
The HR Generalist and Recruiter plays an important role in the overall function of the HR Department specializing in recruitment and retention of talent through employee engagement. This position will support the human resources team and department leaders by providing direct assistance to employees as well as taking the lead in recruitment and on-boarding of team members in the East Region.

Company Interfaces
This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and interfaces with Company employees at all levels and locations, as well as external vendors and agencies on a regular basis.

General Responsibilities

HR Generalist

Process employee data changes utilizing HR Ticketing System to ensure employee data in SAP is accurate

Conduct new hire orientations and onboarding of new employees

Assist facility managers and employees with HR issues

Conduct exit interviews of team members departing the company

Process off-boarding of employees via HR Ticketing System

Support and help coordinate rollout of company training and leadership development programs

Reinforce company culture, strategy and safety focus through engagement and training

Travel to facilities for Open Enrollment, Recruiting Events, Annual Compliance Training, etc.

Recruiting

Serve as primary recruiter for all positions across the East Region

Build strong relationships with professional recruiting partners

Develop strategies and sourcing for recruiting the best candidates including networking, pipeline building, college and trade schools, job boards, etc.

Partner with regional managers to forecast hiring needs each year

Work closely with NE and SE Generalist/Recruiters to ensure roles are posted and recruited timely

Work closely with facility, transport and lab managers to determine hiring needs

Maintain Applicant Pro Recruiting Module and disposition candidates appropriately

Conduct telephonic, virtual and/or in-person interviews of candidates, as needed

Guide hiring managers in selection decisions

Assist managers with reference checks when needed

Coordinate new hires, data changes and terminations utilizing HR Ticketing System

EEO and Veteran Hiring

Serve as primary recruiter for all minority and veteran hiring

Coordinate Veteran V3 Program and ensure compliance

Proactively seek out, engage with and track all minority recruiting resources

Conduct military job fairs virtually and on-site across the company

Represent company at EEO and AAP veteran recruitment functions

Preferred Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated experience in effective two-way communication with internal and external customers (oral, written, presentation).

Exceptional listening and empathy skills to engage closely with employees at all levels.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Must work with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times.

A strong continuous improvement mindset; with a desire to maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.

Solid proficiency in the use of computers and office software (Microsoft Suite of Programs).

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field, or commensurate experience.

PHR or SHRM-CP Certification strongly preferred.

Prior experience working with third party vendors.

Well-versed in social media engagement to generate candidates and promote company.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in HR competencies, particularly recruitment and employee engagement.

Physical Requirements

Able to stand, sit, stoop, bend or climb as necessary.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

Possess or be able to obtain a valid TWIC card.

Possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.

Able and willing to travel on a regular basis to Company terminals, conferences, trainings and so forth. Travel expectancy 25%.
