
Middle School Special Education Teacher (SY26/27)

Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and manage IEPs in compliance with IDEA timelines and requirements.
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and create, monitor, and adjust Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
Ensure accurate and consistent progress monitoring and maintain all required documentation.
Deliver individualized instruction through push‑in co‑teaching in classes of 28 to 32 students and pull‑out small groups typically ranging from 6 to 8 students, adjusting based on need.
Implement research‑based intervention programs such as Lexia Core5, RAP 95, PLL, and Zearn.
Align specialized instruction with general education curricula including Bridges and Amplify.
Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports are implemented with fidelity.
Coach and support paraprofessionals in providing academic, behavioral, and adaptive interventions.
Build strong, culturally responsive relationships with scholars and families that center inclusion, communication, and shared ownership of growth.
Teaching Responsibilities (All Teachers)
Take ownership of student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide instruction, and ensuring all scholars grow through strong planning, rigorous teaching, and timely re‑teaching. Build inclusive, relationship‑centered classrooms by implementing proactive routines, culturally responsive practices, and consistent communication with families. Collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff, contribute to school‑wide initiatives, and support daily operations to maintain a safe and organized environment. Model RMP’s PEAK values in all interactions and remain flexible and responsive in a fast‑paced, data‑driven environment aligned to our evolving Concept Essence.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree (any subject)
Required Licensure and Certifications
Current Colorado teaching license with a special education generalist (5‑21) and/or special education specialist (5‑21) endorsement(s)
Special Education teachers must be certified in Colorado. If your license is from another state, you will need to have the transfer complete before the first day of work.
Pass a background check
Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum two years of lead teaching experience (primary teacher responsible for all academic content)
History of working with special needs populations
Understand ABC data collection
History of case management
CPI/NCI Trained
Salary
This is a full‑time position with a salary range of $65,000 to $89,000, based on experience and qualifications.
