Job Description
Principal Duties

Work with students individually or in group settings under direction of professional staff.

Assist with supervision of students in classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.

Implement behavior management strategies.

May include riding the bus with students.

May include working one‑to‑one with students to complete assigned tasks.

Student supervision required.

Ensuring student safety is required.

Assist students with necessary health assistance under the guidance of the nurses.

Assist in preparation of materials used in the educational process.

Assist students at mealtime.

Assist students in personal hygiene areas.

Help get students to and from bus or car.

Other duties may be assigned.

Assignments may vary based on building and district needs.

$17.10 per hour

Qualifications:

Two‑year post‑secondary education or Para‑educator certificate or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test required.

Physical Demands
The employee will frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle objects, may squat, stoop, kneel, reach above head and forward, grip items, lift or move up to 50 pounds between 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, assessment data, etc.

Working Environment
The noise level is usually quiet. The position may require working beyond typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday and may involve indoor and outdoor activities.
