Overview
Performs moderate and high complexity testing under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager. This position performs routine laboratory testing, quality control testing, general and instrument maintenance, calling of critical and questionable results to appropriate providers, and resulting of test using laboratory information systems. Additionally, this role performs general troubleshooting of instrumentation, communicating technical information to appropriate persons.
Qualifications
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological sciences including 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of any combination of chemical or biological sciences.
Experience: At least 3 years of clinical laboratory experience required.
NOTE: This is a Career Ladder Position. Internal candidates must submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements. External candidates must complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 6 months of hire.
Physical Requirements
Requirements include prolonged standing, sitting, and hand/eye coordination, manual dexterity, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. Requires vision/hearing to normal range with/without correction and normal color vision. Requires wearing protective clothing and shoes due to contact with biohazardous materials. Must be able to read, interpret and apply written labels, instructions and guidelines. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Weekend, holiday, and overtime rotations required to accommodate patient care.
