A Special Education Teacher Registered Apprenticeship offers a pathway to becoming a certified special education teacher. It is an earn-while-you-learn model combining paid work, supplemental education, and on-the-job training. It addresses teacher shortages and expands staffing flexibility.

Wage Schedule
1st semester (Entry/probationary): $15/hr
2nd semester: $15.50/hr
2nd year: $16/hr
3rd year: $17/hr
4th year: $18/hr
Completion and placement into a teacher position: $25/hr
Note: Upon completion of the apprenticeship program, individuals will be available for a teaching position. If no teaching position is available at the time the individual completes the program, they will remain in an instructional support position until the next opening.
Eligibility Requirements
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum 2.5 GPA cumulative or based on last 60 academic credits.
Eligibility for employment as a special education paraprofessional, instructional aide, or similar role within the district.
Three years of prior experience as a paraprofessional or equivalent, or ADE-approved equivalence.
