Job Description
Instructs students in physical education activities in public school: plans physical education program to promote development of students' physical attributes and social skills. Teaches individual and team sports to students, utilizing knowledge of sports techniques and of physical capabilities of students. Organizes, leads, instructs, and referees indoor and outdoor games, such as volleyball, baseball, basketball, badminton, softball, tennis, golf, gymnastics, and aerobics. Instructs individuals or groups in beginning or advanced calisthenics, gymnastics, or corrective exercises, determining type and level of difficulty of exercises, corrections needed, and prescribed movements, applying knowledge of sports, physiology, and corrective techniques. Teaches and demonstrates use of gymnastic and training apparatus, such as weights.

Job Requirements
Essential Functions:
Must have RIDE APE/PE Certification. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness or team sports, utilizing the course of study adopted by the School District and other appropriate learning activities.
Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of body movement.
Teaches Physical Education classes for special education students.
Provides appropriate safety instruction and safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure overall safety of students.
Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in physical education areas.
Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Bachelor degree preferred.
