Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in St. Joseph, Missouri— offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification (up to $700)
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
Schedule: Monday–Friday; Weekends OFF
Hours: First Shift 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification/Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred
Basic tools required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
All other certifications required by location required
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
Additional Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers as applicable
Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
Replace defective components as instructed
Work unsupervised on most tasks
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Support operations as required, including but not limited to Service Island support
Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
Complete 2 OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days
