Patrol Officer, Village of Bolivar
The Village of Bolivar is accepting resumes for a full‑time Patrol Officer.

Applicants must be able to work well independently, demonstrate knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Starting pay:

$22.00/hour (patrolman) to $24.00/hour (Sergeant) with a probationary raise of $1.00 after six (6) months. Starting pay based on qualifications and experience.

Shift:

Applicant will be assigned mainly to the afternoon shift and must be willing to work any shift as needed, including holidays and weekends.

Primary Responsibilities

Deter crime through high‑visibility policing

Patrol and monitor activities to protect residents and property

Investigate crimes and apprehend law violators

Respond to situations or emergencies of many types

Follow the rules, policies, and procedures of the village and police department

Conduct initial and follow‑up investigations

Properly process evidence to ensure successful prosecution

Produce accurate and professional reports on all cases

Foster good public relationships and earn trust with community groups/individuals

Attend court to provide professional testimony and present evidence in court

Possess analytical and critical thinking skills

Follow all Village of Bolivar Policies and Procedures - Lexipol

Applicants must meet the following Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Ohio Basic Peace Officers’ Certification (OPOTA certification) and up to date on their certification(s), or able to do so upon start date.

A valid Ohio driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Able to pass a Federal background investigation.

Health insurance (80% employer paid)

Sick time (accrued at 4.6 hours per pay period)

PTO days

Holiday Pay

Vacation time (2 weeks after 1 year)

Optional supplemental insurances offered (dental, life, etc)

Applicants must have a good driving record and no felony convictions. They must also have a good moral character. The selected applicant is subject to a thorough background, medical, and polygraph examination.

An applicant will be disqualified from employment if previously convicted of any crime of violence, violations of illegal drug activity, or any crimes of theft or corruption.

An applicant who provides false, inaccurate, or incomplete information on the employment application will be subject to disqualification from employment both during and after hiring.
