The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is adding a Geologist to our team based in Midland, TX.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Geologist to join in growing Tetra Tech’s Texas environmental business. Candidate must be highly motivated and work well in a professional and team-oriented environment. Candidates must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel as needed, possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office applications is a requirement.
Essential Job Functions
Support management of medium-to-large, complex tasks to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
Preparation and/or review of technical correspondence, technical reports, work plans, safety plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets.
Assist Project Managers with planning environmental investigation and remediation tasks.
Preparation of charts, boring logs, and cross-sections depicting subsurface conditions.
Field work will include but is not limited to directing the installation of soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells, groundwater/soil sampling, site inspections, and subcontractor oversight.
Prepare subcontracts (Federal and/or civilian) and coordinate all aspects of subcontractor tasks including schedule, logistics, health, and safety.
Communicate effectively and work with regulators and other stakeholders with or on behalf of clients to further project delivery and success.
The position may require extensive outdoor work as well as extended overnight travel and weekend work.
Other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
0 - 3 years’ experience in the environmental industry or related environmental consulting experience.
Educational requirements to obtain a GIT/P.G.
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and ArcGIS.
Previous experience with site investigations, remediation, sampling, and TCEQ regulatory programs.
Applicants must possess excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills.
Applicants must also be highly motivated, customer focused and work well in a team environment.
Applicants must be able to drive and pass a motor vehicle records check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with emergency response operations.
Knowledge of laboratory analytical testing and data validation/interpretation.
