Air Quality Practice Lead – Energy (Remote/Hybrid)
Tetra Tech is seeking an
Air Quality Practice Lead
to lead and grow our national air quality practice, including a high-performing team specializing in air quality engineering, modeling, permitting, and environmental consulting.
This is a senior leadership / seller-doer role focused on practice growth, client development, and technical excellence, supporting Tetra Tech’s energy, industrial, and mining sectors.
Essential Job Functions
Practice Leadership & Strategy
Lead and expand Tetra Tech’s Air Quality Practice, including business strategy, client engagement, and operational performance
Integrate air quality services across Tetra Tech’s global platform and multidisciplinary teams
Identify and develop cross‑disciplinary solutions to support client needs
Drive practice growth, innovation, and market positioning
Business Development & Client Leadership
Serve as Senior Account Lead for key strategic clients
Build and maintain strong relationships across energy, industrial, financial, and private equity sectors
Lead opportunity capture efforts, including RFP/RFQ responses, proposals, pricing, and contract negotiations
Leverage existing networks to expand Tetra Tech’s national energy practice
Participate in industry initiatives and sustainability events
Project & Technical Leadership
Oversee air quality advisory and permitting projects, including:
PSD / NSR permitting
Title V permitting
Regulatory compliance strategies
Ensure delivery of high-quality, complex projects aligned with client expectations and company standards
Collaborate with global teams to analyze market opportunities and account growth potential
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of air quality professionals
Recruit and develop key technical talent
Delegate responsibilities to support team growth and leadership development
Promote a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns
Additional duties as required
Required Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
15+ years of experience in air quality engineering and permitting, ideally within the energy sector
PSD / NSR permitting and Title V applications
Air quality regulatory compliance and strategy
Strong understanding of:
Energy facility air quality requirements
Market trends, client needs, and competitive landscape
Business development and account growth
Program and operational leadership
Managing financial performance and profitability
Established industry network and client relationships
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting:
Oil & gas
Power generation
Mining
Industrial and chemical manufacturing
Experience working with federal and state regulatory agencies
Demonstrated success in building and scaling technical teams
Flexible location with travel required for client engagement and internal collaboration
Participation in industry events, client meetings, and strategic initiatives

Compensation
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $170,000–$210,000 annually
Pay Range – multiple factors are considered in determining final pay, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, demonstrated work experience in the above role, skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
