Job Summary
SPM Oil & Gas currently has an opening for a field service technician. The Field Service Technician I supports safe and efficient field operations by assisting with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of pressure control, frac, flowline and safety restraint equipment. Technicians at this level build foundational technical skills and perform routine operational tasks, while providing high‑quality service delivery, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction in alignment with SPM Oil & Gas standards.

The standard work schedule is on call 24/7 14 days on and 7 days off.

What you will do

Safely install, remove, repair, operate, and service pressure control, frac, flowline, and safety restraint equipment at customer locations

Perform pre-checks on all equipment and processes prior to job start

Make repairs to equipment, including valves, spools, chokes, actuators, and related equipment

Inspect, rebuild, test, and troubleshoot equipment, recommending adjustments to improve quality and efficiency

Operate equipment and materials in accordance with guidelines and standard operating procedures

Prepare or assist in preparing JSAs (Job Safety Analysis) and perform all duties in accordance with SPM Oil & Gas safety policies

Adhere to and exercise Stop Work Authority

Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers in all field service interactions

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers, supervisors, and team members

Prepare or assist in preparing accurate field service documentation in an organized and legible manner

Maintain company‑supplied assets, tools, trucks, trailers, and site‑specific equipment in accordance with company policy

Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Develop working knowledge of shop functions and assist in shop activities as needed

Must be available for 24‑hour on‑call support to meet customer service needs during scheduled work rotations

Perform other duties as assigned

What you will have

Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn technical equipment operation and maintenance

One to two years of related experience and/or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Must be authorized to operate a company vehicle

Must be at least 21 years of age

Have a clean driving record, which generally means:

No more than (2) moving violations within the last 12 months

No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years

Physical Demands

Frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms

Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Summary Pay Range
$21.90 - $29.35

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
