Job Overview
Community Medical Services (CMS) invites application for a Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients recovering from opioid and other illicit substance addictions. The role involves facilitating individual and group counseling sessions, developing treatment plans, and fostering a safe environment for individuals beginning their recovery journey.

We’re Looking For Someone Who
Is excited to work in an outpatient setting similar to a doctor's office or behavioral health clinic.
Enjoys a consistent schedule.
Is open to working with multicultural and low socioeconomic individuals.
To thrive in this role, you must be able to
Maintain and manage a caseload in compliance with regulatory standards and ratios.
Conduct individual sessions, facilitate group counseling, and deliver didactic educational presentations.
Complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and client needs.
Evaluate treatment effectiveness through ongoing assessment and adjust service plans as needed.
Coordinate care with community-based service providers, manage referrals, complete required documentation, and maintain chart compliance.
Include family and natural supports in the client's treatment per client preference.
Stay current with new developments in substance use and meet state licensure requirements.
Build collegial relationships with other substance use professionals, programs, and associations.
Maintain thorough and comprehensive client records.
Serve as point of contact for coordination and communication with other systems where clinical knowledge is crucial.
Assist in screening and coordinating primary care services for clients.
Requirements
Associate's degree or higher.
Active LCDC, LPC, or LCSW license required.
Behavioral health experience preferred.
