Lead Service Specialist – Smart Infrastructure

Location: Rolling Meadows, IL (serves greater Chicago, IL area)

About the Role
The Lead Service Specialist performs tasks on automation systems, including service agreement maintenance, projects, and on‑call services. Responsibilities include serving customers, responding to emergency calls, and maintaining systems to improve sustainability.

Responsibilities

Execute digitalization and standard service operations strategies.

Collaborate with internal service team members such as Service Sales, Client Service Managers, Service Coordinators, and RAM Digital Service Center personnel.

Follow safety requirements outlined by Siemens and customers.

Complete assigned training as per the training path.

Adhere to mandatory policies, procedures, and standards.

Build relationships at all levels within the customer’s organization and exhibit strong customer service skills.

Identify customer needs and make prioritized recommendations for service agreement adds, upgrades, and escalations.

Coordinate with contractors on job sites and maintain tools and test equipment.

Respond to service calls (emergency and on‑site) and perform repairs; document services per policy.

Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and record detailed documentation using Siemens tools.

Provide instructions to customer personnel on proper system operations and assist with training.

Report system discrepancies, suggest upgrade opportunities, and assist in pricing repairs.

Perform system checkout and startup on projects, and participate in final walk or system‑to‑service turnover.

Lead and mentor other Service Technicians and identify quote deficiencies.

Work overtime when needed and perform on‑call rotations or minimal overnight travel.

Possess the ability to work remotely, manage time effectively, and work within a team environment.

Qualifications

Electro‑mechanical experience and PC/software skill.

5+ years of experience performing preventive maintenance and diagnostics of automation systems.

Demonstrated on‑the‑job experience with BACnet, Modbus, and TCP/IP Ethernet networking.

Engineering concepts, programming, job start‑up and checkout, and troubleshooting skills.

Ability and willingness to work in varied environments and heights; comfortable with ladders, scaffolds, ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings.

Capability to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, tablet, and carry equipment up to 75 lbs unassisted.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Minimum age 18, valid driver’s license with limited violations; eligibility for Siemens fleet vehicle program.

Legally authorized to work in the United States permanently without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or state‑recognized GED.

Experience installing and servicing electronic control or HVAC equipment (1+ year).

Demonstrated use of building automation systems, PLCs, HVAC, electrical concepts, and building operations.

Background in engineering and programming (PLC or BMS).

Pay Range
$72,757 - $124,726 annually (actual wage may vary by budget and experience).
