Position Description
The Pollak Library at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track Ethnic Studies Librarian to serve as subject specialist and liaison to students and faculty in the African American Studies and Asian American Studies departments. The role includes library instruction, research support, collection development, and outreach in Ethnic Studies.

Responsibilities
Plan, teach, and assess faculty-requested library instruction sessions.
Provide research assistance via in-person and virtual consultations and scheduled reference shifts.
Serve as subject liaison for African American Studies, Asian American Studies, and other Ethnic Studies departments, building collaborative relationships with faculty.
Lead the library team supporting Diversity Initiatives & Resource Centers, serving as liaison to the centers as needed.
Collaborate with the Collection Development & Management Librarian to identify and select materials and consult on accreditation reports.
Create and maintain online instructional materials and subject-specific content for the library website.
Engage in scholarly/creative activities and serve on departmental, library, professional, and university committees as required for tenure and promotion.
Contribute to library strategic initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent by appointment.
Academic background or demonstrated expertise in Ethnic Studies or related fields (e.g., African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American & Indigenous Studies, Chicana/o & Latinx Studies, Critical Race Studies).
Knowledge and experience with discipline-specific information databases and other research resources.
Experience providing research assistance via in-person, virtual reference, consultations, and teaching information literacy in higher education or comparable areas.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to support a diverse environment with co-workers, students, faculty, and the wider campus community.
Evidence of or interest in scholarly, creative, and professional activities.
Ability to balance core librarian duties with scholarly and service activities.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Ethnic Studies or related fields.
Experience integrating emerging technologies to develop and lead dynamic, engaging library instructional sessions.
Experience supporting library outreach efforts to the campus community in person and online.
