Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an IT Contract Specialist. In this role, the successful candidate will be a key partner to Medical Center IT Missions (MCIT), Finance, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Compliance, and Legal, ensuring that all hardware, software, IT systems, and services contracts are thoroughly reviewed, effectively negotiated, and executed on time and in alignment with organizational policies and risk tolerance. The IT Contract Specialist reports to the Senior Contract Manager and plays a visible role in enabling strategic IT decisions across the enterprise.

Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

Negotiate and support the execution of IT agreements under leadership guidance, including:

Master Services Agreements (MSAs)

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) agreements

Master License Agreements (MLAs)

Statements of Work (SOWs)

Review, analyze, and refine bids and contracts to ensure alignment with:

Legal and regulatory requirements

Internal policies and risk standards

Stakeholder and business requirements

Collaborate with Legal and other stakeholders to draft, redline, and modify contract terms and conditions (including IP, data security, service levels, AI terms and termination).

Administer the contract lifecycle, including:

Reviewing intake requests for completeness and accuracy

Maintaining contract, amendment, and quote files and metadata in the designated systems (e.g., CLM tools, document repositories)

Coordinating signatures with vendors and internal stakeholders

Working with Finance to verify funding and appropriate coding, and with Compliance to ensure BAA completeness and risk review

Keeping requesters informed of key status updates and timelines

Preparing and quality‑checking approval packages for CIO and other executive approvers

Analyze and negotiate contract provisions involving Intellectual Property, data ownership, and usage rights, and support sourcing strategy and vendor selection.

Monitor contract terms (e.g., renewals, expirations, notice periods) and proactively flag upcoming actions to stakeholders.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, JD, Paralegal Studies, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in contracts, sourcing, procurement, legal operations, or similar roles (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Preferred experience with:

Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems

Healthcare and/or HIPAA regulated environments

IT contracts (software, hardware, SaaS, cloud, professional services)

Strong contract review and negotiation skills, including:

Intellectual Property

Data security and privacy

Service levels and performance terms

Proven ability to research, interpret, and resolve contract issues with minimal direction.

Comfortable in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain contractual concepts to non‑legal stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of a college degree and/or 5+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination.

Strong understanding of contracting principles and practices.

Strong critical thinker with the ability to break down and communicate complex issues.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with contract management software.

Highly productive with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $122,430.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
