The Cook at Carriage House plays an important role in delivering memorable breakfast and afternoon reception experiences for guests of The Carriage House through well‑executed buffet‑style service with an emphasis on fresh, healthy, and wellness‑focused cuisine.
Responsibilities
Prepare and execute daily breakfast buffet service according to established menus, recipes, and presentation standards
Support the preparation and service of afternoon happy hour receptions, including buffet setup, replenishment, and breakdown
Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation meet Kohler Hospitality standards
Follow production schedules and recipes to maintain portion control and minimize waste
Maintain proper food temperatures, labeling, dating, and storage at all times
Practice safe food handling and sanitation procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and kitchen environment
Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment and tools
Work collaboratively with the Supervising Cook and culinary team to support daily operations
Comply with all Kohler Co. policies, standards, and workplace safety guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs
Skills & Experience Required
Previous culinary experience in breakfast service, buffet preparation, catering, or banquet environments preferred
Experience or demonstrated interest in healthy, wellness‑minded, and fresh food preparation
Preparation
Knowledge of buffet presentation standards and high‑volume food production
Ability to follow standardized recipes and written procedures
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
ServSafe certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Food Safety & Sanitation Requirements
Proper handwashing, personal hygiene, and uniform standards
Safe food handling practices, including time and temperature control
Prevention of cross‑contamination and correct allergen awareness
Compliance with HACCP principles where applicable
Routine cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, utensils, and workspaces
Safe handling, use, and storage of knives and kitchen equipment
Compliance with all OSHA and workplace safety regulations
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and repetitive hand motions
Manual dexterity required for knife skills and food preparation
Ability to work in warm and occasionally humid kitchen environments

This is a casual part‑time position available working weekdays and weekends. Typical shifts vary between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm.

The hourly range for this position is $16.60 - $24.90. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including candidate's education and work location.
