Job Description Summary
This position is available within the University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology (DIT). Join our team to be a part of the exciting transformation as we migrate UMD computing systems to a modern cloud‑based solution. The IT Software Engineer, Workday Integration will use Workday integration code including Studio, EIB, Reports, and BIRTs as part of the Workday Student implementation. The position is hands‑on, agile, team‑based development.

This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.

May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, or different shifts for extended periods.

Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Employee will need to sit for long periods of time to work on a computer, as well as travel occasionally to meet with clients and customers on and off campus. May need to work evenings and/or weekends. This position is considered an essential position and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergencies to help maintain continuity of University services.

Responsibilities

Implement solutions within a development team.

Follow a formal development methodology and work within scheduled timelines.

Participate in peer code reviews, documentation, and formal testing.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Three (3) years of professional experience developing and maintaining data integrations between systems.

Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of integration‑related technologies (SOAP and REST APIs, WSDL, SFTP, XML/XSLT).

Knowledge of integrating disparate systems.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Skill in the use of Google Workspace products.

Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

Preferences
Advanced Education

Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.

Technical Experience

Experience with Workday’s Integration Framework including EIBs, RaaS, Studio and Orchestration.

Experience developing technical integrations from beginning to end.

3+ years of experience using relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, etc.) with strong ability in developing SQL queries.

3+ years of experience with ETL and/or Report development platforms.

Experience using AI to increase productivity and increase efficiency of coding and existing processes.

Professional Skills

3+ years experience with Workday integration development, preferably student related.

Experience with ETL pipelines and automated testing.

Experience leading design and requirements gathering meetings with business and technical staff.

Experience in enterprise or university environments.

Additional Information
Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in‑person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.
