Job Summary
The secondary teacher is responsible for ensuring scholars are academically and socially prepared for college or career, equipping them with knowledge, skills, and motivation. Responsibilities include delivering effective instruction, differentiating instruction, maintaining progress records, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Qualifications
Current Michigan teaching certification.
Bachelor’s degree.
Demonstrated understanding of child‑learning research and the ability to motivate scholars.
Ability to work in a diverse environment.
Effective communication skills in English, orally and in writing.
Ability to differentiate instruction and inspire mixed‑ability classrooms.
Team collaboration and workload management.
Consistent, dependable attendance.
Essential Job Functions
Provide instruction in mathematics and related academic areas, using the Danielson Rubric and the Tripod 7 Cs.
Teach curriculum and administer common assessments, monitoring student progress.
Model and implement behavioral interventions.
Develop lesson plans and supplemental activities for all students, including those with special needs.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and manage behaviors.
Collaborate with special education staff on IEPs and accommodations.
Implement behavior management strategies and evaluate their effectiveness.
Participate in professional development and apply new strategies.
Parent and Community Engagement
Maintain regular contact with parents via phone, email, or visits, communicating progress.
Participate in parent meetings, IEP sessions, and conferences.
Contribute to community service and global citizenship initiatives.
Other Duties
Act as a role model for scholars and the school community.
Collaborate with staff, administration, and community members in a supportive manner.
Engage in staff meetings, committees, extracurricular activities, and uphold district policies.
Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.

The job requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, occasional lifting up to 40 lbs, and normal vision. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
