POSITION SUMMARY
The Buffer/Polisher is responsible for mechanically finishing metal to achieve a smooth, polished appearance and meet quality standards. This role involves using hand-held tools, polishing wheels, and abrasive materials to remove imperfections, scratches, and oxidation from workpieces. The position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to safety and quality.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions. Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.
Maintains a clean and orderly (6S) work area and equipment to ensure a safe and productive work environment and quality products.
Set up and manually operated polishing and buffing equipment.
Operate hand tools as needed in a safe and efficient manner.
Operate overhead crane, forklift, and/or hand-trucks, as necessary.
Choose correct tools to achieve desired product finish, based on material and other specifications.
Work from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications, job orders, tooling instructions and standard charts to obtain such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
Troubleshoot and resolve various types of operating difficulties, recommend corrective action on process failures within the department.
General Responsibilities
Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.
Meets on-site and other attendance requirements to effectively build positive relationships and interact with all employees.
Requirements
Work Experience Required
Up to 2 years’ experience in a heavy manufacturing environment; Custom order manufacturing environment preferred.
Familiarity with polishing, buffing and hand tools; their applications and uses; and other items associated with polishing equipment and machine work.
A problem solver with initiative and a result-oriented mindset.
Great attention to detail.
Education and Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to hold tight tolerances within .001”;
Ability to maintain proper and accurate records, including inspection reports.
Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, schematics, etc.
Ability to properly use and read micrometers, calipers, tape measure, and other measuring devices.
