Responsibilities
Feed Press Sheets at the feed station of a Sheetfed Offset Press with minimum trips.
Ensure that the proper ink and coatings are used.
Properly track all paper consumed for a given job.
Return unused paper to the warehouse.
Feeder must report any unsafe acts to Pressmen or Lead Pressmen on their shift.
Troubleshoot feed station or paper-related issues as needed.
Assist the Pressmen during make-readies and maintain 5S standards in the pressroom.
Be willing to learn other aspects of press operations and perform other duties as assigned by Pressmen or Pressroom Lead.
Qualifications
Follow all GPI safety rules and procedures.
Achieve and maintain GPI quality standards.
Set up and operate feed stations on all Sheetfed presses.
Assist in all make-ready functions.
Follow directions and train new members in the pressroom.
Work with minimal supervision.
Troubleshoot press feeding issues and resolve them.
Be willing to learn the RFGen/SAP system.
Keep Press Department Leads and Manager informed of needed machine repairs.
Follow all department procedures and all GPI procedures.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Minimum of 3 months printing experience.
Language and Mathematical Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
RCRA Training
Must complete RCRA training to properly handle hazardous waste from the printing process.
Physical Requirements
Duties require standing for 8 to 12 hours with limited lower body movement.
Visual acuity at short distances; ability to detect variances in job numbers, registers, and bleeder marks.
Color vision to detect color discrepancies in product.
Good eye/hand coordination to keep pace with the machine.
Ability to lift 25–35 lb boxes continuously and 50 lb occasionally to cover the Palletizer position.
Occasional climbing, stooping, bending, overhead reaching, fine hand manipulation, grasping, and gripping.
