General Summary:
The Teacher ensures that all students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, independent, and responsible citizens in today's society.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plan a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of, and provides high expectations of learning for all students.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Prepare for classes assigned, meet state guidelines and show written evidence of preparation upon request of superior.
Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior as set out in their student handbooks.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals—establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
Refer students with special needs on a regular basis for appropriate assistance, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by state and federal law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct on the campus, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and maintain order in the classroom.
Maintain and improve professional competence.
Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as requested.
Provide learning experiences that will meet the needs to the total student in the course of study that is adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education.
Support District adopted curriculum.
Perform other duties as assigned by Principal and Assistant Principal.
