Job Description

School Year 2025–2026: Bilingual Teacher’s Assistant or Paraprofessional – 5th Grade
Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts (TAPA), an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts in Providence, Rhode Island, is seeking a full-time Bilingual Teacher’s Assistant (or Paraprofessional). Each elementary classroom has a dedicated full‑time bilingual TA. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, who values student voice and enjoys building relationships with multilingual learners.
The TA will be embedded in the 5th grade class all day, supporting both the Humanities (English/History) and STEM (Math/Science) teachers. Responsibilities include providing in‑classroom academic support in English and Spanish, assisting with instruction, small‑group work and daily routines, maintaining a positive inclusive learning environment, collaborating with teachers on instructional scaffolds, supervising students during lunch and recess, and providing social‑emotional support as needed.
TAPA’s community values cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, linguistic, and neurodiverse diversity. Nearly all students are people of color, predominantly Latinx, and many speak both English and Spanish at home. A significant portion identifies as LGBTQ+ members. Responsibilities

Provide academic support in English and Spanish to multilingual learners.
Assist with classroom instruction, small‑group work, and daily routines.
Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
Collaborate with teachers on instructional scaffolds and accommodations.
Support and supervise students during lunch and recess daily.
Reinforce expectations and offer social‑emotional support as needed.
Qualifications

Required:
Fluency in Spanish and English.
Commitment to student‑centered, inclusive, and equity‑focused education.
Interest in teaching, learning, or a future career in education.
Preferred:
Experience working with multilingual learners in a school setting.
Experience in an urban public school environment.
Knowledge of culturally responsive instructional practices.
Background or commitment to the arts.
At least one year of relevant experience.
High school or trade school degree preferred.
