Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
Performs engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion under the guidance of an experienced engineer. (e.g. Collect data, perform complex analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and clearly present a recommendation to management) (70%)
Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or a number of small projects. (e.g. Analyze and interpret the results of complex power flows and perform complex engineering tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results) (10%)
May direct the engineering tasks associated with a large project or a number of small projects (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria) (10%)
Participates on teams and may lead teams. (10%)
Support smart grid and emerging technology initiatives through technical analysis, modeling, simulations, and data validation under direction from General and Senior Engineers.
Assist in defining and quantifying grid problems and opportunities (e.g., reliability risk, capacity constraints, power quality issues, hosting capacity limitations) using available data sources.
Support cost-benefit analysis efforts by developing input assumptions, performing calculations, and documenting benefits such as reliability improvement, infrastructure deferral, operational efficiencies, and customer value.
Assist with evaluations of technologies including EV integration, managed charging, V2G concepts, DER integration, microgrids, BESS, and distributed intelligence applications.
Contribute to pilot project execution by supporting data collection, measurement of impacts, benefit tracking, and post-pilot evaluation.
Apply data analytics techniques using AMI, SCADA, GIS, DERMS, and IoT data to support impact quantification and performance assessment.
Support preparation of technical documentation, presentations, and business case inputs that articulate both technical outcomes and quantified value.
Participate in training, mentorship, and internal technical forums to build skills in grid impact assessment and benefit quantification.
