Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the Medical Center to support infection prevention and control standards. This role performs a variety of environmental services duties including cleaning, disinfecting, waste removal, and equipment handling to minimize the spread of disease. This position does not involve direct patient care.
Essential Functions
Perform routine and specialized cleaning duties in accordance with organizational standards and infection control protocols.
Clean, disinfect, and service assigned patient and non-patient areas using approved procedures and schedules.
Safely collect, handle, and dispose of regulated and non-regulated waste streams.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed to support departmental operations and thorough cleaning.
Operate environmental services equipment including floor machines, buffers, and vacuums.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards at all times to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Follow all safety guidelines related to chemical usage and equipment handling.
Participate in a minimum of eight department or unit meetings annually.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
Experience 01 year of related experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures
Familiarity with environmental services equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor buffers)
Ability to follow infection control and safety protocols
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
