Ring is looking for a Software Development Engineer who will help us create the next generation of apps, and services. In this role, you will work as part of the Ring backend team, collaborating closely with engineers and product managers to design, test, learn, and iterate on solutions in a fast-paced environment.
The Ring backend team is responsible for the core experiences our neighbors interact with doorbells, cameras, and other devices. As an engineer, you will build low‑latency systems with high uptime required for a security system, collaborate with a talented team dedicated to mutual success, and build revolutionary features for our products.
Key job responsibilities

Design and document distributed systems and microservices.
Implement robust and maintainable code with clear documentation.
Deliver customer value iteratively while building long‑term systems to meet roadmap goals efficiently.
Communicate status and changes to stakeholders, keeping them informed of updates and deviations from the plan.
Implement test automation through unit and integration testing.
Leverage generative AI tools to enhance development productivity, code quality, and system design while maintaining security and compliance.
Basic Qualifications

Professional software development experience (non‑internship).
Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
Programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# with object‑oriented design.
Experience contributing to architecture and design of new and current systems.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers.
