Responsibilities
The State Government Relations Manager identifies and executes Mayo Clinic’s public policy and legislative strategy. This role requires monitoring, evaluating, and discerning state legislative and regulatory issues and proposals and assessing the potential impact to Mayo Clinic. The manager understands Mayo Clinic business objectives and priorities and leads the development of strategies to support those objectives. The position supports the state government relations teams in the development of legislative, policy and regulatory issues and positions and coordinates Mayo’s responses to state government decisions. The role will communicate and negotiate with state legislative and executive leaders as well as agency staff and members of trade associations and professional societies and will manage outside consultants involved in advocacy. The manager will be an effective advocate for Mayo Clinic’s positions and will participate in the state healthcare policy environment. The manager will work closely with other members of the Government Relations team, along with those in Mayo Clinic Strategy and departments across the organization.

Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant work experience.

Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of communication channels and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies.
Strong organizational skills
Sound judgement and decision‑making skills when confronted with competing needs/objectives
Intermediate to advanced and‑user skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Detail oriented approach to problem solving
Strong decision making skills
Ability to work with minimum supervision/direction
The ideal candidate will possess experience in the Arizona political environment.

$141,024.00 - $204,526.40/ year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
