
Web Content Manager

Netchannels Marketing is seeking an experienced Web Content Manager to maintain and further develop the digital presence of the DEA’s law enforcement, regulatory and outreach activities and increase the public’s awareness about the dangers of illegal drug use.
Onsite Presence
NOTE: Onsite presence in Arlington, VA required
Responsibilities
Develop and provide engaging web content that motivates and entertains users.
Perform website editorial activities, including gathering, researching, and writing content.
Locate, negotiate, and pursue content and gathering feedback for website improvement.
Maintain hardware and software essential to content creation and site maintenance.
Monitor website usage and performance, create and maintain backups, and troubleshoot issues.
Work with contributors such as staff, program managers, marketing executives, researchers, photographers, graphic artists, and image libraries to gather material.
Create original content, check accuracy, and ensure compliance with 508/accessibility, copyright, and privacy regulations.
Edit copy for readability, convert longer content to downloadable formats, and adapt content for tablet and smartphone displays.
Collaborate with web designers, developers, and webmasters to determine optimal content presentation.
Upload content or provide materials to designers or webmasters and encourage contributors to supply fresh content.
Write alt‑text, descriptions and titles for images, frames, and iframes.
Write content for meta keyword and description tags, and in certain situations write HTML and/or XML.
Test and edit forms for usability, evaluate web sites for strategy, and recommend content based on target audiences and market research.
Develop content for overall design/redesign and structure of the sites, and recommend interactive surveys for marketing.
Research and write drug‑related news articles, PowerPoint presentations, and drug facts as necessary.
Provide and create graphics for website designs, advertising, and print materials.
Assist in translating content to a foreign language (e.g., Spanish) as needed.
Collaborate on web content and materials for DEA‑sponsored campaigns.
Monitor visitor behavior via website statistics, provide monthly and quarterly analytics, and remove low‑interest content.
Provide quarterly status reports relative to
DOJ Quarterly Website Certification
requirements.
Maintain records of web content, management, and technical activities; report to the record‑keeping system and log time worked for billing purposes.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or mass communication.
Experience in production management.
Experience in web page design, HTML, web graphics types, and standards.
General understanding of Drupal and other CMS platforms.
Experience in education, drug awareness, and prevention (a plus).
Previous editorial or web‑related position experience (a plus).
Skills
Excellent writing and editing skills with expertise in web‑specific techniques such as keywords, hyperlinks, navigation, and brevity.
Strong attention to detail, impeccable spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with contributors, designers, and webmasters.
Organizational skills to collate material from multiple sources and meet tight deadlines.
