Social Media Manager
Netchannels Marketing is seeking an experienced and skilled individual to maintain and further develop the social media presence of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The role supports the DEA’s law enforcement, regulatory, and outreach activities and increases the public’s awareness about the dangers of illegal drug use.
The client is the DEA, which manages official social media accounts on Eventbrite, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X, and oversees 29 additional X accounts across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. This position requires onsite presence in Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
Develop individual, creative, and engaging social media content that appeals to DEA’s national and international audiences, aiming to increase followers on all platforms by 10‑20% within a year.
Edit social media content created by others.
Train others on the basics of using social media (primarily X) and develop related training materials.
Create and maintain a social media calendar, including workflow and scheduling of posts using tools such as Sprout Social.
Produce reports of social media activity for senior leadership from scheduling programs (e.g., Hootsuite) and native analytics in LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram.
Create and edit GIFs and short videos for social media deployment, and develop professional still images, graphics, and charts to illustrate posts and tweets.
Use photo and video editing tools/software such as Canva, Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere to create and manipulate photos and video clips for social media.
Incorporate Adobe Stock images and other graphic asset resources, including emojis, vectors, and icons, into social media posts.
Conduct and/or manage live tweeting events such as press conferences, speeches, and community outreach events.

Work collaboratively with government public information officers, web developers, and visual and video specialists.
Research
Stay up-to-date with the ever‑changing social and digital media landscape.
Research trending DEA topics and other federal government topics.
Create web content supporting major public events (e.g., DEA’s Red Ribbon Week and the National Prescription Drug Take‑Back Initiative) and for the DEA.gov website.
Flexibility
Adapt to changing posting requests.
Try new features and adjust strategy based on trends and analytics.
Others
SEO knowledge preferred but not required.
Experience incorporating SEO to increase audience reach and drive traffic to DEA websites.
Familiarity with drug law enforcement at the federal level.
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Familiarity with press release creation, media relations, press conferences, and integrating social media with other agency online content.
Basic graphics editing ability.
