
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Analyst

This is a non-merit, employment-at-will contract position.
The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Analyst provides technical and analytical support for WSSC Water’s enterprise-wide AMI system, including smart metering, communication networks, and data integration with enterprise applications such as Oracle Utilities Customer-to-Meter (C2M), GIS, and analytics platforms. The analyst ensures the accuracy, reliability, and performance of meter data collection, validation, and reporting to support customer billing, operations, and strategic initiatives. This role bridges IT and business functions, performing system administration, data analysis, and process optimization within the AMI environment.
Essential Functions
Monitor AMI network and meter performance through dashboards and reporting tools to ensure accurate and timely data collection
Validate and troubleshoot meter read exceptions, communication failures, and data anomalies
Develop, maintain, and automate data quality and operational reports (e.g., unread meters, zero/constant reads, tamper alerts, and backfill events)
Support AMI device lifecycle management including meter installations, replacements, and retirements through data updates and coordination with field operations
Assist with system configuration, testing, and deployment of AMI and related applications
Work with IT teams and vendors to resolve data flow, integration, and network communication issues
Perform data analysis and trend identification to improve AMI performance and customer service outcomes
Collaborate with Customer Service, Meter Operations, Billing, and IT teams to align AMI data with billing and operational requirements
Participate in upgrade projects, user acceptance testing (UAT), and enhancement reviews for AMI and C2M systems
Document standard operating procedures, workflows, and data management processes
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
3 years of experience in AMI systems, data analytics, or utility operations.
Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, or other data analysis tools preferred.
Alternative Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
7 years of experience in AMI systems, data analytics, or utility operations.
Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, or other data analysis tools preferred.
