Talascend is currently seeking an
Mobile Facility Engineer
for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in
Southfield, Michigan .
Overview
This role involves operating, inspecting, and maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment in assigned facilities to ensure efficient operation and longevity. The Mobile Facility Engineer will focus on safety, energy efficiency, and reducing downtime through proactive maintenance and repairs.
Responsibilities
Perform ongoing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical, electrical, and other systems, ensuring optimal operation and safety.
Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC/R systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and building interior/exterior components.
Recognize hazards and propose methods to eliminate them while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation for work assignments.
Submit P-card receipts daily, update work order status in real-time, and utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for work documentation.
Perform vehicle safety inspections and elevate issues to management promptly.
Attend work and safety meetings, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, specifically HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment maintenance.
Strong knowledge of system design and application.
HVAC certification: Universal CFC recovery certification (must be obtained within 90 days if not already held).
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work at heights, climb ladders of up to 30 feet, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Ability to work in adverse conditions such as extreme heat or cold.
Preferred Qualifications
Third‑party certification preferred.
Experience with computer applications including Word and Excel.
Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
